Big Breaking: ED arrests Minister Sanjeev Arora, Son in Chandigarh; Heavy Security Deployment

In a major development, ED has arrested Minister Sanjeev Arora and his son in Chandigarh.

This morning in Chandigarh, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team raided the house of Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora. The team arrived at the minister’s residence in Sector-2 in about 15 vehicles, and the officials surrounded the entire property. A large number of CRPF personnel have been deployed at the site for security.

Currently, no one is being allowed to enter or leave the house. The official reason for the raid has not been disclosed yet. It is also not clear whether Minister Arora is at the residence or not. This is the second action by the team against the minister within a month.About 20 days ago, the ED had also raided the residences of Minister Sanjeev Arora and his 2 partners in Ludhiana and Jalandhar. Officials had stated that there is a suspicion that Sanjeev Arora was providing protection to illegal betting operators in Punjab through his political influence in order to take a share of their profits.

They were also accused of using their companies and several entry operators to convert the immense money of speculators into legitimate investments. They were assisting in money laundering.

According to officials, Sanjeev Arora’s companies are also under investigation for booking several fake export bills, round-tripping funds from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and showing fake purchases from non-existent GST entities.

The team emerged from the place close to CM’s OSD in 40 hours.

Meanwhile, the ED raid on the 9th floor of Western Tower in Kharar, Mohali, ended on Friday night around 12 a.m. This operation lasted about 40 hours. After the raid ended, ED officials were seen coming out carrying items in 6 bags.

However, IT businessman Nitin Gohil was not present with them, so there has been no confirmation of his arrest so far. The ED has not yet issued any official statement regarding this matter. It is also not confirmed what items were seized by the team.

Nitin Gohil has been described as a close associate of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD Rajbir Ghumman. On the day of the raid, 500-rupee notes were thrown from his house. Later, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann denied the opposition’s allegations regarding the connections between Nitin Gohil and Rajbir Ghumman.

The entire case is being reported to be connected with fraudulent acquisition of Change of Land Use (CLU), cheating landowners and customers of crores of rupees, and money laundering. In this case, the ED had also issued a press note on Thursday, in which it mentioned the seizure of 1 crore rupees.

After the press note was issued, questions were also raised on Aman Arora. The investigating agency claims that the money laundering accused Gaurav Dheer is a close associate of Minister Aman Arora. Regarding this, Aman Arora held a press conference on Friday. During this, he described Gaurav Dheer as his friend but denied any kind of business dealings with him.
