SBI revises BSBD cash withdrawal charges; Rs 15 fee beyond four free transactions from October 1

New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI) has revised the cash withdrawal charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts opened through the branch channel, with the new rules coming into effect from October 1, 2026.

Under the revised charges, SBI customers will continue to get four free cash withdrawals every month. Any cash withdrawal beyond the four free transactions will attract a charge of Rs 15 per transaction, plus applicable GST, the country’s largest lender said in a public notice on Thursday.

    Digital transactions remain free

SBI said that digital transactions will continue to remain free without any restriction under the revised rules.

The bank has also changed how Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions are treated while calculating the monthly free transaction limit.

Earlier, AePS transactions classified as digital transactions were excluded from the calculation of the four free monthly transactions. Under the revised rules, this exclusion has been removed.

    SBI reports strong Q1 performance

The charges revision comes after SBI reported strong financial results for the first quarter of FY27.

The bank’s net profit rose 10.23 per cent year-on-year to Rs 21,121 crore in the April-June quarter, compared with Rs 19,160 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY26.

SBI’s operating profit increased 9.8 per cent to Rs 33,529 crore, while net interest income (NII) rose 14.9 per cent to Rs 46,992 crore, according to the bank’s regulatory filing.

The lender attributed the growth in quarterly profit to higher interest income, strong loan growth and a decline in provisions for bad loans.
