Snowfall Hits 3 districts of Uttarakhand, Rain in 7 Areas, Plains Experience Cold Wave

Uttarakhand: Snowfall occurred today in three high-altitude districts of Uttarakhand—Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Rudraprayag—while rain affected seven districts, including Rudraprayag, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Almora, Bageshwar, and Nainital.

Heavy Snow in Mountain Areas

Snowfall was reported in areas such as Munsyari, Dharchula, Adi Kailash, Om Parvat (Pithoragarh), Kedarnath Dham (Rudraprayag), and Pindar Valley and Dhur (Bageshwar). Yesterday, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, and Uttarkashi had also received light snowfall.

Fresh snowfall in Kedarnath measured about six inches, covering the shrine and surrounding areas. Harsil in Uttarkashi saw light snow, while Gangotri experienced rain.

Weather Forecast

The Meteorological Department predicts light to very light rain and snowfall in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and other mountainous districts, especially in areas above 3,300 meters. Plains like Dehradun will remain dry but partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping by 2-4°C, intensifying the cold wave.

Dehradun’s maximum and minimum temperatures are expected around 26°C and 10°C, slightly lower than the previous day. Temperatures may gradually rise in the coming days.
