Tensions Erupt: SOI Leaders Clash with Police Outside CM House

Today, in Chandigarh Sector-11, SOI workers surrounded the Punjab CM’s house. Several leaders, including SOI chief Rana Ranbir, shouted slogans against CM Mann. During this time, there was a scuffle between the leaders and the police. Chandigarh police took SOI chief Rana Ranbir and other workers into custody and brought them to the police station.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago, the CM had referred to SOI as the SMACK Organization of India from the stage. In view of this, Chandigarh police are on alert. To prevent the workers, the police have set up barricades and also deployed water cannons.

Along with this, an important meeting of the Shiromani Akali Dal will be held in Chandigarh under the leadership of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. During this, in-charges from all constituencies will be present. In the meeting, a strategy will be prepared regarding the damage to crops caused by the rain and the current situation of the state.

 Sector in-charges will meet

Senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, posted that party president Sukhbir Singh Badal has called a meeting of all assembly constituency in-charges at the party headquarters in Chandigarh on April 8 (Wednesday) at 2 PM. The meeting will extensively discuss the damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall and hailstorm in various districts of Punjab. Additionally, a concrete plan will be made to provide immediate and effective assistance to the affected farmers.

Five statements by CM Mann 

1. These days, the CM has been continuously attacking the Shiromani Akali Dal. He is attacking the SAD from every platform. A few days ago, during a rally in Fatehgarh Sahib, he linked the student wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SOI) with drugs (smack), calling it the Smack Organization of India. The organization described these remarks as ‘inappropriate and image-damaging.’ In protest, students at Punjab University (PU) in Chandigarh chanted slogans against the Chief Minister and even burned his effigy. They have also sent a legal notice to the CM, demanding an unconditional apology within 7 days.

2. In another program, he appealed to people for the social boycott of Akali leaders. He held the Akali Dal responsible for incidents of desecration and atrocities on innocent protesters.

3. Additionally, at the Muktsar rally, Bhagwant Mann compared the SAD to electricity theft, ‘kickli’ (a local term), and venomous snakes.

4. CM Mann termed Akali Dal’s ‘Save Punjab Yatra’ as a ‘Save Family Yatra’ and said that they are trying to protect their political interests instead of the interests of the state.

5. While attacking SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, the CM called him a ‘narrow-minded person’ who has no understanding of Punjab’s interests.
