Sonia Gandhi writes open letter to people of Rae Bareli, says ‘Wont contest LS polls due to health…’

New Delhi: Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi who yesterday filed her nomination for upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Rajasthan. She has written an open letter to people of Rae Bareli. Sonia Gandhi is member of Lok Sabha from Rae Bareli and after her shift to Rajya Sabha, the seat will be vacant.

Addressing people of Rae Bareli in her letter she said that her family in Delhi is incomplete which becomes complete with the people of Bareli. Terming their relationship as very old, she said she got it from her in-laws.

Writing about her family relation with Rae Bareli seat, she said, “Our family’s ties with Rae Bareli run very deep. In the first Lok Sabha elections held after independence, you made my father-in-law Shri Feroze Gandhi win from here and sent him to Delhi. After him, you made my mother-in-law Mrs. Indira Gandhi your own. From then till now, this series has continued with love and enthusiasm through the ups and downs and difficult paths of life, and our faith in it has become stronger.”

Citing her health and increasing age, Sonia Gandhi said that she will not be able to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “After this decision, I will not get the opportunity to serve you directly, but it is certain that my heart and soul will always be with you. I know that you will also take care of me and my family in every difficulty, just like you have been taking care of me till now. Salute to the elders! Love for the little ones! Promise to meet soon” added Sonia Gandhi.
