Speeding Tipper Crashes Into Tree in Jalandhar, Power Supply Disrupted

Jalandhar: A speeding tipper truck went out of control and crashed into a tree in Jalandhar, causing major disruption in the area. The impact of the collision was so severe that large branches of the tree broke off and fell onto the road, while electricity wires also got entangled in the debris.

The accident completely blocked the route, causing heavy inconvenience to commuters and vehicle drivers. The incident took place on the main road leading from Sher Singh Colony towards Nala Pul.

Following the crash, electricity supply in the area was also disrupted. Locals alleged negligence on the part of the administration and the electricity department, claiming that no official had reached the spot even hours after the incident.

Long Traffic Jam After Debris Covers Road

A local resident, Ladi, who was present at the scene, said the tipper was barely 10 feet away from his vehicle at the time of the accident.

He further stated that the vehicle narrowly missed a migrant street vendor passing along the roadside, escaping by just 8-10 inches. Moments later, the tipper rammed into the tree.

A young man was injured after being hit by falling branches and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The accident led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, while many commuters were forced to turn back due to the blockage.

    Residents Accuse Officials of Negligence

Local residents accused officials of failing to respond despite the emergency situation. According to them, repeated attempts were made to contact the Junior Engineer (JE) and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the electricity department, but no calls were answered.

People expressed anger over the delay in clearing the road and restoring electricity supply.

Area Plunged Into Darkness After Power Lines Damaged

The fallen tree also damaged electricity poles and wires, plunging the entire locality into darkness.

Residents said that despite lodging complaints, no relief work had started till late evening. Some heavy branches were still hanging dangerously in the air and could fall at any moment, posing a serious threat to passersby.

Locals also pointed out that no warning boards or barricades had been placed at the accident site, increasing the risk for speeding vehicles during the night.

Residents have demanded immediate removal of the debris and restoration of the road to prevent any further mishap.
