Speeding Truck Kills Motorcyclist on Rishikesh-Badrinath Highway

Rishikesh: A young motorcyclist died in a tragic road accident near Devprayag on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway. The accident occurred near the Pali culvert late Friday evening.

Hit by a speeding truck

According to station in-charge Prashant Bahuguna, the deceased has been identified as Sachin Sharma (40), son of Shripal Sharma, a resident of Naveen Nagar, Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh).
He was traveling from Rishikesh to Srinagar on his bike. As he approached the Pali culvert, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit his bike.

Died on the spot

The impact was so severe that the motorcyclist was thrown under the truck’s wheels and died on the spot. The accident caused panic in the area.

Police arrived at the scene, body sent for post-mortem

Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body and sent it to Srinagar for post-mortem. The police have also informed the family of the deceased about the accident.

Truck seized, driver detained

Police have seized the truck involved in the accident and the driver has been detained for questioning.
The accident also disrupted traffic on the highway for some time.
