On Thursday, the third trading day of the week, the domestic stock market continued to trade in the green. India’s two benchmark indices—the Sensex and the Nifty—opened with gains. In early trading, the Sensex began the session at 78,677.56, up 566.32 points (0.72%).

At 10:36 AM, the Sensex was trading at 78,400.84, up 289.60 points (0.37%), while the Nifty was seen trading at 24,316.25, strengthening by 84.96 points (0.35%).

On the other hand, the 50-share NSE Nifty surged 144.45 points (0.60%) to reach the 24,375.75 level, and shortly thereafter, successfully jumped another 169.65 points to hit 24,400.95. During early trading, shares of ICICI and L&T emerged as the top gainers.

Driven by this market rally, the total market capitalisation of all companies listed on the BSE witnessed an increase of over ₹25 lakh crore, rising to ₹462 lakh crore.

What is driving the market rally?
Domestic stock market benchmark indices the Sensex and the Nifty recorded strong gains in early trading on Thursday, driven by easing global geopolitical tensions and expectations regarding the resumption of talks between the US and Iran. Additionally, softening crude oil prices and a resurgence of foreign fund inflows have provided a positive boost to market sentiment.

What is happening across key market sectors? Amidst this market rally, shares of certain key companies witnessed stellar performance, while others remained under pressure:

Top Gainers: Among the 30 companies on the Sensex, shares of Eternal, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel, and InterGlobe Aviation recorded the highest gains.
Top Losers: Conversely, shares of Sun Pharma and Titan registered a decline during early trading.
