Bangar says Axar’s No. 3 promotion backfired, disrupting India’s top order.

NEW DELHI, Dec 12, 2025 — Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar said that promoting Axar Patel to bat at No. 3 in the second T20 International against South Africa was “not an ideal position” for the all‑rounder. India lost the match by 51 runs in the five‑match series, with the top order failing to.

After playing a pivotal role in India’s 2025 Champions Trophy triumph with his all-round skills, Axar Patel is now likely to be appointed as the new Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper for the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Virat Kohli's vintage century, which was his 51st in the ODIs, guided them to a thumping six-wicket win in the high-stakes encounter.

Visakhapatnam:  India all-rounder Axar Patel remains hopeful of the young Indian side performing well in the five-match T20I series Australia which begins on Thursday. Axar missed the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 owing to injury. However, he’s back in the side for the five-match T20 series against Australia, starting in Visakhapatnam. Speaking to JioCinema.
