Chandigarh: BJP’s Harpreet Kaur Babla has become the new mayor of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. She won the election by 2 votes after cross voting. The BJP candidate got 19 votes. Whereas Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alliance candidate Prem Lata got only 17 votes. In the mayor election, BJP had the support of only 16.
BJP's newly elected Mayor Manoj Sonkar has also filed a caveat in the Supreme Court. In the caveat it has been said that before taking any decision on Kuldeep's petition, he should also be heard.
