Kolkata: The BJP on Sunday announced Rukmini Mallick (Koel Mallick) as its candidate for the 2026 Rajya Sabha biennial election in West Bengal. Actress-turned-politician Rukmini Mallick, who is popularly known as Koel Mallick, recently came close to the BJP from the Trinamool Congress. She resigned as a Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP in July this.
