1. ‘Show the terrorists’ faces!’: Rahul Gandhi Stands by Vedant, Questions Abuse Faced by CBSE Student
Rahul Gandhi, had met with Class 12 student Vedant Srivastava, who had filed a complaint against CBSE for issuing him the wrong Physics answer sheet. At the meeting, Gandhi had poked fun at how Vedant and his family were being subjected to trolling on social media, being termed as terrorists and deep state agents. Vedant had stated that the answer sheet issued by CBSE was not his writing. Following the incident becoming a national controversy, CBSE had investigated the case and issued the right answer sheet and corrected his marks.
2. US: 11 Dead in Washington State Chemical Accident, Authorities Confirm
The casualty rate in the chemical tank explosion at a paper packaging company in Washington has reached 11 following the retrieval of all the nine employees whose status was described as missing in action by rescue officials. The incident happened after a tank holding about 900,000 gallons of “white liquor” – a combination of chemicals required in paper manufacturing – exploded at a Nippon Dynawave Packaging factory. While investigations reveal that some of the chemicals were dumped in the adjacent Columbia River, there has been no negative effect recorded either on the area’s air quality or drinking water.
3.Fire Breaks Out at Godown in Mumbai’s Andheri East, Firefighting Operations Underway
There was a fire accident at a godown located in the Andheri East region of Mumbai on Sunday. Firebrigade responded to the incident immediately by deploying firetenders to the location. Firefighting activities are in progress. Fortunately, no one has sustained any injury as a result of the fire accident. There are no casualties so far. It is not known yet what caused the fire.
4. SIR Phase III Begins in Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur; BLOs Start House-to-House Survey
Election Commission of India has started the process of enumeration of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the states of Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur. During the process, BLOs will undertake house-to-house visits for distribution of forms, collection of forms and verification of forms filled up by the electors. The form could either be filled by the voters through BLOs or electronically. According to the ECI, those who would fill up the forms by June 28, 2026, would be considered for inclusion in the draft roll. The process would help to include all the eligible citizens in the voting list and exclude ineligible ones.
5. Israeli PM says its forces “captured” Beaufort castle in southern Lebanon, instructs IDF to “expand incursion”
The Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu revealed that Israeli forces have taken control of the strategically significant Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon and instructed the military forces to extend their missions in the region. Netanyahu claims that the Israeli troops have crossed the Litani River and have secured important terrain positions which were held by Hezbollah forces. Also, Israel Defense Forces claim that the mission will allow dismantling the Hezbollah structure and ensuring security of communities in northern Israel.
Moreover, Netanyahu claimed that Israel is engaged in military missions in various locations such as Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria. Apart from that, Netanyahu said that at the present moment, Israel controls about 60% of Gaza Strip and instructed the military forces to extend the control up to 70%.
