Triple H screening will begin in Punjab de-addiction centers, testing for HIV and hepatitis

The Punjab government has launched a new initiative to prevent drug abuse and related infectious diseases in Punjab. As part of the Punjab government “yudh nashiyan virudh’ campaign, Triple H screening will soon be introduced in government de-addiction and rehabilitation centers. Under this initiative, individuals struggling with drug addiction will be screened for serious diseases like HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

The primary objective of this initiative is to provide better treatment to those struggling with drug addiction and to control blood-borne infectious diseases. According to health information, infections like HIV, hepatitis B and C can spread through the repeated use of contaminated needles and syringes. This increases the risk of these diseases among injection drug users.

Screening will be integrated into the de-addiction process

Under this new system of the Punjab government, health checkups will no longer be limited to periodic medical camps, but will be integrated directly into the de-addiction and rehabilitation process. This will enable regular screening of individuals seeking treatment at centers and prompt identification of those infected with the virus. This system is also expected to benefit patients who require further testing, specialized treatment or ongoing medical care after a confirmed diagnosis.

Emphasis on timely identification and treatment

The introduction of Triple H screening will allow patients attending de-addiction centers to be tested for three key infections under a single system. This can help connect infected individuals to timely treatment and reduce the risk of further spread of the disease. This initiative by the Punjab government is being considered a step towards public health protection, in addition to the ongoing campaign against drug abuse in Punjab. Its objective is not only to help people suffering from drug addiction get rid of addiction but also to provide them better health facilities and a safe life.
