Trivendra Singh Rawat Urges Rail Infrastructure Boost in Haridwar Ahead of Kumbh Mela

Haridwar: MP Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in the Lok Sabha while pressing for enhanced railway infrastructure in Haridwar and nearby regions. He expressed appreciation for the additional train stoppages granted to Haridwar in recent times.

    Call for Upgrading Railway Stations

Raising key concerns, Rawat underscored the urgent need to modernise smaller stations along the Roorkee-Luksar and Roorkee-Saharanpur railway routes within his constituency. He pointed out that with the Kumbh Mela scheduled for next year, improving railway facilities is essential to ensure smooth passenger movement.

    Demand for Overbridges and Underpasses

The MP also highlighted infrastructure gaps on the Haridwar-Dehradun rail line, particularly in the Sainik Cantonment area at Raiwala. He stressed the need for either a Railway Overbridge (ROB) or an underpass in the region and sought the Railway Minister’s attention on the issue.

Additionally, Rawat questioned the progress of expansion work at Harrawala railway station in Dehradun. He noted that increasing traffic pressure in the Defence Colony area, which houses a large population, makes the construction of a railway overbridge there highly necessary.

    Proposal for Shuttle Train Service

To further ease connectivity, Rawat proposed the introduction of a shuttle or passenger train service on the Haridwar-Luxor-Saharanpur route. He stated that such a service would greatly benefit local residents and help manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
