Twin Blasts Reported in Punjab: Explosions Near BSF Sites in Jalandhar and Amritsar

Jalandhar, May 5: After a blast in Jalandhar earlier in the day, another explosion has now been reported near the BSF headquarters in Amritsar, according to sources, further heightening security concerns in Punjab.

Panic had first gripped Jalandhar city on Tuesday evening after a sudden explosion in a scooter near the busy BSF Chowk triggered a fire and prompted a swift security response.

According to eyewitnesses, the scooter exploded without warning and immediately caught fire, sending plumes of smoke into the air and alarming people in the vicinity. The incident occurred near the entry gate of the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters, a sensitive area with regular movement of security personnel and civilians.

In the immediate aftermath, locals rushed to safety and alerted authorities. Police officials, along with fire brigade teams, reached the spot within minutes and began efforts to douse the flames and secure the area. The fire was later brought under control, preventing further damage.

Initial reports indicate that a BSF Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), stationed at the entry gate, sustained minor injuries after being hit by splinters from the blast. He was provided medical attention and is said to be stable.

Security agencies have cordoned off the area and launched a detailed investigation. CCTV footage from nearby cameras has been recovered and is being examined to determine the sequence of events. The scooter driver has been apprehended and is being questioned by police.

The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown. Authorities have not ruled out any possibility, and forensic teams are expected to analyze the site as the investigation continues.
