In the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026-27, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a significant rise in honorarium for Shiksha Mitras (para-teachers). From April 2026, these educators will receive ₹18,000 per month, up from ₹10,000 earlier, addressing long-standing demands for better pay. Instructors (anudeshaks) will be paid ₹17,000 per month. A cashless medical facility of up to ₹5 lakh will also be provided to teachers and their families.
The budget allocates ₹580 crore for the establishment of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas in development blocks where such residential schools do not yet exist. This move aims to expand educational opportunities for girls from poor and backward regions of the state.
In addition to honorarium and girls’ school funding, the UP government earmarked substantial resources for strengthening school infrastructure, smart classes, composite schools, and sanitation facilities following safety audits. These measures are part of broader reforms to improve access to quality basic and digital education across the state.
