Germany is set to host high-level talks involving delegations from the United States and Ukraine over the weekend, as diplomatic efforts intensify around the possibility of a ceasefire in the ongoing Ukraine war.

The discussions will take place ahead of a broader summit scheduled in Berlin on Monday, which will bring together European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. A German official confirmed on Saturday that the weekend meetings are aimed at exploring potential pathways toward de-escalation and gauging the feasibility of a ceasefire.

According to a US official, President Donald Trump has decided to send his envoy Steve Witkoff, along with his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, to Germany for the discussions.
