Uttarakhand to Launch Helicopter Services from Chinyalisaur and Gauchar Ahead of Chardham Yatra

Srinagar, Uttarakhand: Just before the Chardham Yatra begins in April, the Uttarakhand government has taken a key decision to improve air connectivity near the China border. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that Chinyalisaur and Gauchar airstrips will now be operated by the army, with helicopter services to be launched soon.

Faster and Safer Travel for Pilgrims

The new helicopter services aim to provide pilgrims with faster and safer travel to the Char Dham temples. The initiative will also enhance disaster management capabilities and improve access to border areas.

CM Dhami highlighted the strategic and religious importance of both airstrips. Once operational, these airstrips will serve not just pilgrims, but also local residents during emergencies.

    CM’s Visit and Public Interaction

The announcement was made during the “Government of the People, Doorstep of the People” program at the Chinyalisaur development block complex. CM Dhami inspected departmental stalls, listened to villagers’ grievances, and resolved several issues on the spot.

    Preparations for Char Dham Yatra

The government is prioritizing heli-transport services for the upcoming pilgrimage. CM Dhami emphasized that while the government coordinates the program, success also depends on pilgrim priests, hoteliers, taxi operators, and local communities.
