Rain Likely Across Uttarakhand: Heavy Hail Alert in 6 Districts, Snowfall Chances in Hills

Rain is possible in all districts of Uttarakhand. According to Dr. C.S. Tomar, Director of the Meteorological Center in Dehradun, the weather in the state is expected to change over the next 4-5 days. The department has issued an orange alert for heavy hailstorms in several areas on April 28 and 29.

According to the department, today an orange alert has been issued for Nainital, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. In these districts, there is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and hailstorms in some places.

Yellow alert in the plains districts

At the same time, there may be a very heavy to extremely heavy spell of rain and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour. The administration has advised local people and travelers to remain cautious. In the remaining hilly areas of the state, there is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning, a heavy spell of rain, and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour in some places.

Similarly, in the plain’s districts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar, there is also an expectation of occasional lightning and strong winds (40-50 kmph). The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for these areas and appealed for caution.

Cloudy skies and chances of strong winds in Dehradun

In Dehradun, the sky is expected to be mainly clear to partially cloudy. During this time, there is a possibility of very light rain, lightning along with thunder, and gusty winds blowing at a speed of 40-50 km per hour.

The city’s maximum temperature is expected to be around 37°C and the minimum temperature around 22°C. Local residents have been advised to stay alert to the changing weather.

April 29 – In the districts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected at many places. Snowfall is also likely in areas at an altitude of 4000 meters or more.

April 30 – In Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and snowfall (in areas above 4000 meters) is expected at many places. In other districts of the state, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is also likely at some places.

May 1 – In the hilly districts of the state, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and showers, and snowfall in areas at an altitude of 4000 meters or more, is expected at some places. Meanwhile, in the plain’s districts of Uttarakhand, very light to light rain with thunderstorms and showers is expected at isolated places.
