Rain in Nainital, Drizzle in Dehradun; Snowfall, Hail Hit Hills as Storm Downs Trees in Pithoragarh–Bageshwar

It rained in Nainital this morning, which got the children going to school wet. Meanwhile, there was drizzle in Dehradun. The meteorological department has indicated the possibility of rain in all districts today. The department has issued warnings and released orange and yellow alerts. According to the department, light to moderate rain and showers with thunder are likely in most parts of the state.

The Meteorological Centre has warned of a ‘severe phase’ of heavy hailstorms and rain at various places in Nainital, Dehradun, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. During this period, gusty winds blowing at 40-50 km per hour and lightning flashes are expected.

Meanwhile, there is a strong possibility of snowfall in areas with altitudes of 4000 meters and above, which may cause a significant drop in temperature. The department has issued a yellow alert for Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. Here, strong winds with lightning and light rain are expected.

Rain in 9 districts, snowfall in two

It rained in 9 districts of Uttarakhand on Tuesday, while hail also fell in two districts, Champawat and Pauri. Additionally, there was light snowfall in the higher Himalayan regions of Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh. The districts where it rained include Almora, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Bageshwar, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, and Dehradun.

A storm that hit Bageshwar district has caused heavy damage. Due to strong winds, three people were injured as trees fell and tin roofs were blown away.

Possibility of Drizzle in Dehradun

The weather in Dehradun is expected to change today, with the sky likely to have partial to moderate cloud cover. According to the meteorological department, very light to light rain may occur in the city accompanied by thunder and lightning, and gusty winds are also expected at a speed of 40-50 km per hour.

Today, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 35°C and the minimum temperature around 21°C, which may provide people with slight relief from the heat.
