School Bus Attacked with Stones in Uttarakhand Horror

Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand: In a terrifying incident on Wednesday in the Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district, a roadways bus carrying school‑going girls was allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants who surrounded the vehicle on motorcycles and pelted stones at it, shattering windows and frightening the children on board.

According to police, the attack occurred on National Highway‑74 when the bus, reportedly transporting students from Tanakpur to Haridwar was stopped on the road. The assailants, described by witnesses as youths on bikes, allegedly began screaming and hurling stones at the bus, causing panic among the passengers, many of whom were schoolgirls. Some pupils were heard crying in fear and shouting “save me” as the situation escalated.

Driver Assaulted, Bus Damaged

The driver of the bus was also allegedly assaulted by the attackers after a dispute over overtaking on the highway, police said. Window panes were smashed during the stone‑pelting, and the terrified students were forced to duck inside the bus to avoid injury.

Police Response and Investigation

Following the incident, the driver managed to take the vehicle to the nearest police outpost at Doraha and report the attack. Local law enforcement has detained some suspects and registered a case based on the driver’s complaint, promising strict action against those involved.

No serious injuries to the students have been officially reported yet, but the ordeal has raised concerns among parents and residents about safety on school transport routes.
