Chandigarh, August 10: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the new Vande Bharat Express from Bengaluru through digital medium to go to Maa Vaishno Devi’s Darbar Katra from Punjab. After this, this train will be operational for the general public from August 11. This train will operate under the Northern Railway Zone and will run on all days of the week except Tuesday.
This high-speed train will cover the journey between Amritsar and Katra in just 5 hours 35 minutes, providing a fast, comfortable and time-saving option to thousands of pilgrims and passengers. The train number will be 26405/26406.
A new route has been chosen for Vande Bharat. Instead of going directly to Pathankot, this train will reach Pathankot Cantt via Beas, Jalandhar City and from there this train will reach Katra via Jammu Tawi.
This is the first Vande-Bharat from Amritsar to Katra
Earlier, Vande Bharat services have been started on Delhi-Katra and Katra-Srinagar routes, which have proved to be very popular among the passengers. With the introduction of the new train, the journey will become much easier and faster for the devotees going to visit Mata Vaishno Devi from Amritsar and surrounding districts.
It is worth noting that currently 144 Vande Bharat trains are running across the country. This project was first started in 2019 between New Delhi and Varanasi, after which these trains were launched from time to time in different parts of the country.
