Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has achieved unprecedented progress in every sector. The railway sector has also witnessed remarkable transformation. Today, Indian Railways is rapidly moving towards world-class technology, ultra-modern facilities and an environmentally sustainable transport system. In this journey of development, Haryana has achieved a historic milestone. The operation of the country’s first hydrogen-powered train on the Jind–Sonipat railway section is a matter of pride not only for the State but for the entire nation. This project will further strengthen the resolve of Viksit Bharat and Green India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always emphasized that India’s development should be based on modern technology, innovation and self-reliance. As a result of this vision, India is today achieving new milestones through indigenous technology. The JindSonipat Hydrogen Train Project is a transformative initiative in the history of Indian Railways. It demonstrates that India is no longer merely a consumer of technology but has emerged as a creator of new technologies and a nation capable of providing technological leadership to the world. Developed with an entirely indigenous design, manufacturing, and conversion process, this train is a living example of the capability of Indian engineers and the resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat. It will be among the world’s longest hydrogenpowered trains operating on broad gauge tracks. Built at a cost of approximately Rs. 141 crore, the train will comprise two driving power cars and eight passenger coaches. With a power output of approximately 2,400 kilowatts, it will be among the most powerful hydrogen-powered trains of Indian Railways. The successful trial of the train has been completed, and approval from the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) has also been obtained. This clearly reflects that India has taken a decisive step towards modern, safe and environmentally friendly rail transportation. This achievement is of special significance for Haryana because the project will play an important role in establishing the State as a centre of modern railway technology. The train will operate on the approximately 89-kilometre Jind–Sonipat rail section, giving a new identity to the State’s transport system. It will not only provide passengers with modern amenities but will also promote the use of clean energy. In the coming years, such projects will make a significant contribution towards reducing carbon emissions and achieving global green development goals. The development visible in Haryana today is the outcome of the coordinated efforts of the Central Government and the State Government. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the Central Government and the Double Engine Government in Haryana have given a newmomentum to the State’s development. Whether it is the expansion of national highways, modernization of railway infrastructure, expansion of air connectivity, promotion of industrial investment, new initiatives in health and education, or the development of modern public infrastructure, Haryana is continuously progressing in every sector. The Jind–Sonipat Hydrogen Train Project is another outstanding example of this coordinated development vision. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently maintained that the benefits of development should not remain confined to major cities alone but should reach every State and every region of the country. In line with this vision, Haryana has witnessed unprecedented progress in railway infrastructure, roads, energy, industry and digital infrastructure. Hydrogen energy is regarded as the clean energy of the future. Its use will not only promote environmental protection but will also help make India self-reliant in the energy sector. The adoption of hydrogen technology by Indian Railways is proof that the country is preparing today for the challenges of tomorrow. This initiative provides a strong foundation to Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” and “Green India.” Today, India is emerging before the world as a nation that is writing a new chapter of development by harmoniously blending tradition with modernity. Haryana is an active partner in this transformational journey. The Jind–Sonipat Hydrogen Train Project will also open new avenues for the youth of the State, engineers and the industrial sector by creating fresh opportunities for employment and investment in advanced technologies. I am fully confident that under the inspiring leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, and through the joint efforts of the Central Government and the Double Engine Government of Haryana, the State will continue to set new milestones of development. The Jind–Sonipat Hydrogen Train Project is not merely a railway project; it is a powerful symbol of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Green Development, Modern Technology and the resolve of Viksit Bharat. It will lay a strong foundation for a clean, safe and modern India for future generations and further strengthen Haryana’s position among the country’s leading progressive States.
