Weather chaos across India: 94 dead in UP storms, Rajasthan under red alert

Uttar Pradesh: A severe storm and hurricane wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. 94 people died in 30 districts, including Prayagraj and Ayodhya. The highest number of deaths, 17, were recorded in Prayagraj and 16 in Bhadohi. Trees and electric poles fell in many areas.

Storm blew at a speed of 80 km/h, youth swept away along with a tin shed

A young man was blown away along with a tin shed during a severe storm in Bareilly. Winds blew at speeds of up to 80 km/h in several cities. Temperatures in Banda reached 45.4 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for severe storms and rain in 51 districts today.

Heat wave wreaks havoc in Rajasthan, Jaisalmer the hottest

The impact of severe heat and heatwaves is continuously increasing in Rajasthan. Jaisalmer remained the hottest city in the country for the fourth consecutive day, recording a temperature of 46.1 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Barmer.

Heatwave grips several districts in Madhya Pradesh

Heatwave conditions persist in more than 25 districts of Madhya Pradesh, which may continue until May 18th. Khajuraho recorded a temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Orange alerts for heatwave and warm nights have been issued for Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, and Ratlam.

Weather impacts Haryana and Bihar as well

Temperatures are continuously rising in Haryana. The mercury reached 42.5 degrees Celsius in Narnaul. A yellow heatwave alert will be in effect in the state through May 17th. An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued for seven districts in Bihar, including Purnia and Katihar. Rain is also expected in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
