Youths Reach Restaurant with Hill Girls Using Fake Names, Identity Revealed After Questioning

Uttarakhand: In a restaurant located in Dehradun’s Paltan Bazaar, Bajrang Dal activists apprehended a group comprising Muslim youths and two girls from the hill regions under suspicious circumstances. Bajrang Dal activist Vikas Verma alleged that the youths had befriended the girls by concealing their true identities and subsequently brought them to the restaurant.

According to the activist, on April 22, inside the Paltan Bazaar restaurant, four youths and two girls were engaging in objectionable behavior—including smearing cake on each other’s faces—under the pretext of celebrating a birthday. When a staff member present at the scene witnessed this, they alerted the Bajrang Dal.

Youths Concealed Their True Identities

Upon arriving at the scene and conducting an inquiry, Vikas Verma—the Bajrang Dal’s *Prant Milan Pramukh* (Provincial Coordination Chief)—found that the youths had concealed their true identities. The young women identified themselves as residents of Uttarkashi and Pauri Garhwal, stating that they were students at a private educational institution in Dehradun.

Meanwhile, the boys initially gave their names as Saurabh and Ramesh; however, when subjected to stricter questioning, they eventually revealed their true identities.

All Youths Hailed from Uttar Pradesh

Rigorous questioning and a subsequent police investigation revealed that all the youths belonged to the Muslim community and were residents of Uttar Pradesh. The activist stated that during the incident, when the suggestion was made to inform the girls’ families, the young women began to plead and beg.

Meanwhile, when the hostel warden was contacted, their response proved to be shocking. The warden allegedly dismissed the incident as merely “normal youthful fun,” a reaction that incensed the Bajrang Dal activists.

Police Issue Challans

The organization alleges that educational institutions and their associated hostels are effectively shielding and enabling such activities. Vikas Verma alleged that several prestigious educational institutions in “Devbhoomi” (the Land of Gods) are leading the youth astray. He further claimed that lakhs of rupees are spent to invite celebrities and singers who, once on stage, employ obscene language and profanities. Recently, a case was also registered against a renowned singer for an indecent performance at a college in Dehradun. The Bajrang Dal has issued a warning that it will stage aggressive protests against institutions that, under the guise of education, promote substance abuse and obscenity.

According to Hari Om Chauhan, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kotwali Police Station, the young women apprehended at the scene were handed over to the police. Meanwhile, taking action against the four young men involved, the police have issued challans against them under the provisions of the Police Act.

Youths Also Apprehended in Clement Town and on Sahastradhara Road

In Clement Town, a team from the Bajrang Dal apprehended a young man late at night as he was entering a house. The youth identified himself as Shanu; however, the subsequent investigation revealed his real name to be Shakib. Additionally, at a guest house on Sahastradhara Road, a young man named Qadir Khan was caught in the company of a young Hindu woman.

The accused was wearing a Kalawa (sacred thread) on his wrist in an attempt to conceal his true identity. It is alleged that he had administered a sedative to the young woman—mixed with water—causing her to lose consciousness. The Bajrang Dal members apprehended him following a tip-off from an auto-rickshaw driver.
