    Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections not be held in villages included under Mohali MC, Read to know why

    Nominations for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Punjab have started today. The process of filing nominations will continue from December 1 to 4. Candidates will be able to file papers from 11 am to 3 pm. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on December 5. Whereas, voting will be held on December 14, the results of which will be announced on December 17.

    The Rural Development and Panchayats Department has informed the State Election Commission that, in view of the notification dated 28.11.2025 issued by the Local Government Department, 15 villages adjacent to the Municipal Corporation, Mohali, have now been included in the limits of the Municipal Corporation, Mohali.

    The Rural Development and Panchayats Department has clarified that due to this notification, the Panchayat Samiti, Mohali, has now removed 15 Gram Panchayats from the jurisdiction of the concerned Panchayat Samiti/Zilla Parishad, Mohali. Since there has been a significant change in the boundaries of Panchayat Samiti, Mohali and Zila Parishad, Mohali, the Rural Development and Panchayats Department is now to reorganize this block and the Zila Parishad area afresh.

    On the recommendation of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department and the Deputy Commissioner, Mohali, the Commission has decided that the election of members of Panchayat Samiti, Mohali and Zila Parishad, Mohali is postponed till these zones are reorganised by the Rural Development and Panchayats Department. It is clarified that the election of members of Panchayat Samiti, Derabassi, Panchayat Samiti, Kharar and Panchayat Samiti, Majri will be held as per the issued schedule.
