A show by Punjabi singer Babbu Maan in Una, Himachal Pradesh, has sparked controversy. Singer has now been accused of insulting Hindu deities. Hindu organizations in Ludhiana have filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner, demanding action against Babbu Maan and the organizers of the event.
A festival was celebrated in Una, Himachal Pradesh, where a holy flame (jyot) from Chintpurni was brought and installed, and the entire set was decorated to resemble the Chintpurni Darbar.
Promotion of weapons and alcohol
On the same stage, Babbu Maan performed songs that allegedly promoted weapons and alcohol. Hindu organizations have objected to this. Dera Chief Swami Amareshwar Das said that the administration had organized the Maa Chintpurni festival in Una, where a jagran was held. A sacred flame brought from Maa Chintpurni Darbar was installed there. He said that Punjabi singer Babbu Maan sang obscene songs on the stage.
Girls danced on vulgar songs
Alcohol was promoted during the event. He said that the district administration was responsible for organizing the program. He mentioned that there was chaos during Babbu Maan’s show. A replica of the Chintpurni temple had been set up there, and girls were allegedly made to dance to vulgar songs on that stage. He demanded strict action against Babbu Maan and the organizers.
Swami Amareshwar Das added that had the event not been labeled as the Maa Chintpurni Festival, they would not have objected to such songs or atmosphere. He further said that Babbu Maan did not sing even a single word in praise of Maa Chintpurni during the festival.
Hindu Sentiments hurt
Swami Amareshwar Das, Mandeep Mallan, and others said that Babbu Maan’s songs, such as “Mehfil Mitran Di Sajdi Roz Chuaare” and “Botalan De Datt Khull Gaye” promote weapons and drugs. They added that singing such songs in front of a temple dedicated to the Goddess directly hurts Hindu sentiments.
Swami Amareshwar Das and others said that they conduct langar at the Maa Chintpurni temple on every Sankranti. They stated that Babbu Maan and Amrit Maan were invited to the program held in Una on November 15 and 16. They said that neither of the singers performed even a single devotional hymn and instead used obscene language.
