DA For Employees And Pensioners: Big news for government employees, Read HC order

The Punjab and Haryana High Court, in its order, has directed the Punjab government to take a time-bound decision on the petitions of employees and pensioners regarding dearness allowance and dearness relief. The court asked the government to pass an order within three months, and if the petitioners are found entitled to the benefits, they should be given the benefits immediately.

In this case, Nirmal Singh Dhanoa and other petitioners had filed a petition in the High Court. They said that the state government implemented the dearness allowance and relief installments late compared to the central government employees.

The petitioners appealed to the court that they be given DA/DR as per the recommendations of the Sixth Punjab Pay Commission on the lines of the central government.

The petition had explained how 125 percent DA/DR should have been implemented from January 1, 2016, but the government delayed it. Similarly, 28 percent DA was supposed to be available from July 1, 2021, but it was implemented from November 2021.

Similarly, 34 percent was supposed to be implemented from January 2022, 38 percent from July 2022, and 42 percent from January 2023, but the government implemented it later. Punjabi travel experiences

The petitioners also sought the timely implementation of the upcoming installments of 46, 50, 53, and 55 percent and payment of 12 percent interest on the outstanding balance.
