Punjab: Kisan Mazdoor Morcha calls for Rail Roko Protest at 26 Locations on December 5

Chandigarh: Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (India), Punjab Chapter has announced a two-hour symbolic rail roko agitation on December 5, 2025 from 1 pm to 3 pm. The protest is being held against the state government’s rejection of the Electricity Reforms Bill 2025, replacement of prepaid meters with old meters, alleged forced sale of government properties, disregard for the rights of farmers and workers, lack of fair price for their crops and other local issues.

Morcha chief Sarwan Singh Pandher said that if the government does not pay attention to their demands, the agitation will be intensified and it can be spread across the state. He said that the aim of this move is to make the voice of farmers and workers heard by the government.

Rail blockades will be held at 26 locations across the state – including the main districts of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala.

These symbolic rail blockades will be held at several key locations including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Fazilka, Moga and Bathinda.

Farmers and labour organisations say that by peacefully blocking rail routes, they will warn the government that their long-pending demands and government policies are not in the interest of farmers and labourers.

The Kisan Mazdoor Morcha has made it clear that the protest will be peaceful, but if the government does not act on the demands, the struggle may turn more violent. The Morcha has appealed for support from farmers, workers and the general public.
