SAS Nagar: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sonam Chaudhary today reviewed the monthly budget of schools, Anganwadis and health departments. Reviewing the progress, she directed that the purity of drinking water in schools and Anganwadis should be improved. This should be ensured and no negligence should be used in this, she added.
The district heads of both those institutions were asked to ensure that water samples from various places are tested and wherever any defect is found, It should be removed with immediate effect.
Additional Deputy Commissioner said that midday meals would be provided in schools and Anganwadis. The quality of a balanced diet should also be ensured. District Education Officer Dr. Ginni Duggal said that a mid-day meal facility was provided to 89203 students in the schools of the district. On which one day of the week (Saturday) the students are also given fruits (bananas) to eat. District Program Officer Gagandeep Singh said that the nutrition provided by them in ‘Anganwadis’ The quality of the feed is specially checked.
The District Education Officer said that under Samagra Shikhya Abhiyan, 5000 students of the district were educated in the month of April. Uniform grant of Rs 30 lakh for 45459 students and uniforms worth Rs 272 lakh for 45459 students in July. Grants were received, which are being provided through Block Primary Education Officers. Apart from this, 232220 books were given to primary classes in the district, 539318 books were given to upper primary and commerce classes. 5627 books were provided free of cost to the students by the government.
The District Program Officer said that last month there were 37810 beneficiaries (including 650 Anganwadis) in the district. Additional nutritious food to 5824 pregnant and new-born mothers and 31986 children aged 6 months to 6 years) (Supplementary Nutrition Food) was given. Since the inception of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, 18945 women have been given benefits.
