Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday accused the authorities of using water cannons to disperse protesters, including its founder Imran Khan’s sisters, who were holding a sit-in outside Adiala jail after prison authorities did not allow them to meet him. In a statement shared on X, the party stated that Pakistani authorities used water.

The Pakistan Army has escalated its stance against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, describing him as a “security risk” and “mentally unstable.” The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a warning that attacks on military leadership or institutions “will not be tolerated.” Analysts say this signals a possible drastic crackdown on PTI supporters and public dissent,.

PTI plans protests outside Islamabad High Court and Adiala jail as rumours about Imran Khan’s health intensify and Section 144 is imposed.

PTI said that a five-member committee would be set up to manage and approve the list of people allowed to meet Khan.
