Ludhiana: A Mullanpur Dakha resident posed as an official of Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) and took Rs 42.60 lakh bribe from an SBS Nagar resident. The team of the Vigilance Bureau has arrested the accused. The accused has been identified as Jagat Ram of Mullanpur Dakha. The VB official said that the case was registered.
These funds were sanctioned to the said panchayat for construction of pakka houses for the poor and homeless under the Indira Awas Yojana. The accused was absconding for the last seven years.
He further said that the complainant has alleged in his complaint that the said clerk had taken a bribe of Rs 35,000 in exchange for passing his medical bill of Rs 3,13,486.
