Accompanied by MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, the Minister reiterated the Punjab Government’s resolve, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to safeguard people from flood-like situations by reinforcing the bundh.
He said dedicated teams of the Jalandhar Administration, the Drainage Department, and Army units are working round the clock under the supervision of Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal.

Mr. Goyal assured that there is no shortage of resources for this vital task, as the government has ensured uninterrupted supply of materials and manpower.
He lauded the relentless efforts of the administration, Army, and SDRF, while particularly appreciating the spirit of Sangat, who have joined hands to protect the region from a potential flood crisis.
He added that strengthening work would continue once the water level recedes.
Erosion and Relief Measures

Acknowledging that erosion of the bundh was caused by the river’s strong current directed towards it, the Minister said “no stone will be left unturned” to safeguard the embankment and nearby residents.
He also assured that timely compensation will be provided in case of flood-related damage, with officials directed to conduct prompt Girdawari (field surveys) of losses caused by floods and heavy rains.
