The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed for the second consecutive day due to landslides and shooting stones caused by heavy rainfall, while major pilgrimages in Jammu and Kashmir were suspended for the sixth day.
A joint rescue operation was launched by the Civil Administration, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, following which all the injured were shifted to the district hospital for treatment.
Five pilgrims travelling to the Amarnath shrine were injured, including one critically, after their vehicle met with an accident near Toldi Nallah in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital.
A total of 354 vehicles were deployed for the convoy, including 175 buses, 70 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), 106 light motor vehicles (LMVs), and three two-wheelers.
The administration said it is continuously monitoring weather conditions and the river flow, with all concerned departments remaining on alert to respond to any emergency situation.
