Offline registration for the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has started from today. Registrations are being done in Haridwar, Dehradun, and Rishikesh. In Haridwar, 20 counters have been set up at Rishikul Maidan, and in Rishikesh, more than 30 counters have been set up at the Transit Camp and ISBT.
Due to continuous heavy rains in Uttarakhand, landslides have occurred at many places on the Kedarnath and Badrinath highways, due to which hundreds of pilgrims on the Chardham Yatra are stranded.
The temporary suspension had been imposed on Sunday as a precautionary measure to protect the lives and property of pilgrims and residents amid severe weather.
The onset of monsoon in the Himalayan region has started to impact the Char Dham Yatra, with continuous rainfall triggering landslide threats and leading to the temporary suspension of pilgrim movement to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri, and Hemkund Sahib.
The number of deaths of devotees in the Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra is constantly increasing. 68 devotees have died so far within 29 days in the Char Dham Yatra, which started on 30 April.
Vigilance has been increased in sensitive areas of Uttarakhand during Operation Sindoor. Especially, vigilance has been increased on the China-Nepal border.
The sacred portals of Shri Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district were opened to devotees on Sunday at 6 a.m. amid traditional Vedic rituals and chants of "Jai Badri Vishal", with the Garhwal Rifles band of the Indian Army enhancing the spiritual atmosphere through melodious music.
